I love using the cream of tartar as part of my sauces or as a thickener in dishes that call for a bit of cream. Making a simple, creamy sauce will be just as fun and quick, especially if you don’t have time to make a big pot of cream. The cream of tartar, however, will need to simmer for a few minutes before you can use it, and it’s not as easy to find in the grocery store.
The new recipe on the blog is simple enough, and very creamy. I usually just make it with heavy cream or even just skim milk, but I decided to use cream-free milk because my mom always makes a giant pot of stuff and I love to experiment with her recipe.
I went to the local market this weekend and picked up a few things to try out. I couldn’t find cream of tartar, but I got to work on a different recipe. Here’s my version of a creamy tartar sauce.
I decided to use 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. I didn’t get the oil to color (it kinda turned a little brown), but I think it adds some flavor and thickness to the sauce.
When I was younger I would add the oil, but now I use a little bit of olive oil and the sauce. The sauce really gets the flavor. I just use a couple tablespoons of olive oil and the sauce. I’m not sure if this sauce is an amazing sauce or not, but it works just as well. I also used a couple tablespoons of oil but this is a bit too rich.
This is a great sauce to make. It is very tasty and thick. I think I could eat this with a spoon if I had to, but I don’t think I could put it up to my lips. I would definitely add this to the kitchen.
This sauce is really good. I add a little butter (as a flavor), some herbs, and the cream of tartar. I then cook it down and add the sliced tomatoes, red onions, and peppers. It’s a bit thick, but it would work well in a stir-fry.
