Marsaxlokk is a small fishermen´s village in the southeast of Malta. It has a population of only 3500 people and is famous for his colorful fishing boats. The boats are called “Luzzus” in the local language. Marsaxlokk is the main port for fishing swordfish, tuna and the very popular lampuki. This fish is also known as dorado.
How to get there?
Marsaxlokk is reachable in 40 minutes by public bus no. 81 and 85 from Valletta. The fee for one way is 1,50 EUR.
It is also possible to go by taxi for 25 EUR one way.
Check out one of the fish restaurants at the end of the bay. They serve excellent fish. We recommend to eat swordfish, lampuki or red snapper.
How long to stay?
Marsaxlokk is perfect for a one day trip. This will give you enough time to enjoy the great fish, beautiful fishing boats and visit some souvenir shops.
Where to stay?
In our opinion the best place to stay is the center of Valletta.You will find small Hotels in this beautiful town with his narrow streets.
