I have read that it is not possible to use silicone baking molds to get resin painted. I have seen a few places that do this but those people are a mess. The best way to use the silicone is to use a clay oven. There are only a few ways to do this and it is extremely hard on your body and takes a long time, but if you have patience, you can make the best decisions in the end.
I think it is easier to get resin painted with baked clay molds. I have seen some places that do this, but I have not tried it myself.
My opinion is that your best bet with this is to get the silicone baking molds and try to make the best out of them.
It is not recommended to use silicone to make resin. The silicone is quite expensive and it is usually the cheapest way to make the best decisions. To get the best results from silicone, you will have to build up the clay in a special oven that is heated to a higher temperature than the ovens you normally use for baking clay. It is actually quite difficult to do this correctly. The most common places to get this wrong is in the oven.
The problem with silicone is that it’s really a bit sticky and once it sets up, it doesn’t easily slip out of the mold. On the other hand, resin needs a very thick surface to form a strong and durable bond, so you need to make sure that your clay is really thick. You also need to keep in mind that a lot of the resin that you get from a mold may lack the strength and durability of the actual clay you are making.

I have also used some of these silicone baking molds to work with resin (this was not my first time working with silicone in general, so I am still learning). To get a good bond with resin, I apply the first coat of silicone to the mold, and then let it dry for a few hours. Then I apply the second coat. After it is dry I paint it in place with a good filler. I find this the easiest way to get the silicone to stick to the mold.
